Day 4
Arrival at Roseau, Dominica

This small island nation was governed by Great Britain for 200 years and became an independent country in 1978. Its 70,000 citizens seemed an extremely friendly and well educated bunch and their .065% crime rate is to be envied world wide. Cricket is their main sport. The island is volcanic and mountainous, with relatively few, if any, beaches.
The ship arrived at noon, and we went on a snorkeling tour at a place called “champagne”– not for the drinks, but for the bubbles rising in the water from a geo-thermal spring. The water was great, lots of fish and a few turtles, but extremely difficult to get in and out of the surf due to the rocks.
Returning from the snorkel trip – a lot more exhausted than she shows.
