February 13-15, 2012 – At Sea
Day 39-41
Three great days at sea. Our scheduled cruise by Pitcairn Island had to be cancelled in order to make up the time we lost skirting the storm. This “cruise by” would have included us stopping near the island, allowing some residents of Pitcairn, descendants of the Bounty mutineers, to boat out and board for a short visit. As I understand it, past cruises have done this, allowing the residents to sell various souvenirs and handcrafts, products of the island. This would have been very interesting – alas.
We dropped back into our comfortable “at sea” routine, attending lectures, playing Mah Jong and reading. Lectures included subjects as diverse as “The Power of Positive Thinking” and the “Explorations of La Perouse & Malaspina in the Pacific”.
Tuesday was Valentine’s Day and the ship really went all out to celebrate. Since we haven’t been to the dining room since the first night, we don’t have an assigned table, and I wasn’t sure if they could accommodate us, so you can imagine our pleasure when they gave us a great table for two at the coveted “early seating”. Yes, we did dress since it was a formal night, and yes we did go dancing.
So this is the dining room!
Tahiti tomorrow!
Lookin’ good!
Envy, envy, envy
Y’all look like you’re having a ton of fun! And I’m glad you’ve made good on your promise to Mom – this way Grant won’t be the only Winslow man who can shake up a dancefloor!
Who are you people?
And what did you do with John and Sally?
I’m shocked, truly shocked, NOT visiting the dinng room until now? Sounds like a former Hawaiian cruise. Glad you guys are having fun, wish we could be there!
