December 2 – Pisco General San Martin, Peru
Long name for this port, but a very short visit. This is a port 20 miles from anything – not sure what its purpose is. Maybe we have become “too picky”, but we decided to stay on the ship and take the day off.
As we arrived, this view confirmed our decision.
The only interesting thing here is the name “Pisco” – which is the name of a local favorite drink in Peru and Chile, the Pisco Sour. I tried one in Lima, and really regretted it – maybe I am out of practice, but further practice might kill me, so I just quit.
Zaga got this picture of a jellyfish right next to the dock.
The next day, on our way to Coquimbo, we were entertained by a huge pod of porpoises and sea birds.
