Day One minus 1 – Dallas to Los Angeles
On our last trip, Barbara Martin was concerned that we were going out the same day we sailed. I told her not to worry, we had done it dozens of times and never missed a sailing. Due to aircraft problems, we almost missed it. This year we are going a day early and staying in a hotel near the ship.
Once again, thanks to super travel agent, Bill Edwards, of CruiseEscapes, a limo picked us up in the rain (and some snow) and took us to DFW. I really like leaving for one of these trips when the weather is horrible in Dallas – pretty sick, huh?
We left DFW on the 22nd, flew to John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, and spent the night about four blocks from the pier where our ship will dock tomorrow morning. Here is a picture from our hotel window of The Crown Princess pulling away from the dock, heading down the channel to the Pacific. You can see, she is passing the USS Iowa, a WWII battleship, anchored as a permanent museum. After dinner we planned to turn in early, but were slightly delayed because of a Union rally in the street below our room. Loud and enthusiastic!
Bon Voyage!! The kids and I looking forward to following along with your voyage. Love and blessings to you both! xoxo
